/ How we work

Assembled per project, not per org chart.

Our team works with you via a dynamic model, flexing to the needs of each project. We bring together electronics gurus, industrial design wizards, full-stack dev maestros, fabricators and creatives, supported by a trusted network of specialist collaborators: designers, engineers and makers who join us as each project demands. A few of them are highlighted below.

/ Team

The people who actually build it.

Small on purpose. Every engagement is run by the engineers doing the work, not handed down through a layer that has never held the board.

Matt Stedman
Founder & Chief of Engineering · AKA The Master of Hard Stuff

Matt Stedman

Matt founded Hard Stuff in 2023, leveraging his experience as a professional prototyper and venture builder, working with some of the most impactful technology startups, within venture capital, and in advisory and incubation roles.

  • MEng Integrated Engineering
  • 10 years experience in prototyping, product, and venture building
Alex Tanvuia
Full Stack Software Dev · AKA The Master of Soft Stuff

Alex Tanvuia

Alex owns the software from the microcontroller to the dashboard, building the firmware, services and interfaces behind Hard Stuff products. An anthropologist before an engineer, he's mostly interested in the distance between how hardware behaves on the bench and how it behaves in the field.

  • BA Anthropology, Goldsmiths · Software Engineering at 42 London
  • Firmware to frontend across the STACK
/ Wider external team

Not every project sprint needs every skillset - we bring in our wider freelance network to ensure the project team is lean but fully capable, every time.
